Anderson High School has recently been recognized for 60 consecutive years of participation in State Fair Band Day. Anderson, Indiana has a very rich history of high school bands. Before the school corporation consolidations, the Madison Heights Band of Pirates, the Highland High School Marching Highlanders, and the Anderson High School Marching Indians were each contenders and frequent champions of State Fair Band Day. As a combined 14-time State Fair Champion, and 16-time ISSMA State Finalist, the Anderson High School Marching Band Program strives to remain a top performer in the marching arts.PIPES AND DRUMS
The Pipes and Drums are a unique gem in the Anderson High School Band Department. Lead by instructor Denise James, this curricular ensemble performs in many different settings throughout the year including recitals and concerts, parades (including the Indianapolis St. Patrick's Day Parade), funerals, and weddings.WINTER GUARD
Anderson High School has multiple opportunities for students to participate in Color Guard. Our Winter Guard Program is an audition-based organization that begins in October and concludes in March. Currently, we have two competitive guards at Anderson High School. The Varsity and Junior Varsity guards compete in five to seven competitions each year in IHSCGA (Indiana High School Color Guard Association). Winter Guard organizations practice outside of the school day at Erskine Elementary two evenings out of the week and they have camps and contests on Saturdays. During the school year, AHS has a dance class that meets every day. Students learn the historic Pregame Indianettes routine for Varsity home basketball games and they perform in two dance recitals (one each semester.) DONATE
Given today's economy and the current climate of educational funding in our country, band programs across the country simply do not receive enough funding to provide the type of experience we believe each student deserves. If able, please consider donating to our program to help us do more for your students. Your monetary donation is eligible as a tax write-off due to our Band Boosters' 501 (c)(3) non-profit status. You can choose to donate to either the program's general fund using the button below, or to our gofundme scholarship campaign. Thank you for your contributions!VOLUNTEER
As we understand not all families can contribute financially, we can always use your help with the many programs that the band department puts on. If you can contribute even a small portion of your time to the band department each year, we will be able to function at a much higher level and focus our attention on making great music. Please sign up to volunteer, and thank you for donating your valuable time!Mon
