Booostr Weekly Progress Report for 10/11/2024: Tweaks and Updates

Introduction

Hello again!  Back with our weekly updates of the haps here at Booostr. This week was a slow week as far as pushes to live server.  Normally we have a few upgrade and improvements that go live, but it was not to be.  Most of the updates that were pushed this week were minor updates, fixes and backend updates that are hard for the average user to see.

On the one hand, that’s not necessarily a bad thing – nothing major broke – haha. From that perspective – I chalk that up as a win. On the other hand, my competitive spirit always wants things moving forward in leaps and bounds – keep biggering and biggering as Dr. Seuss said.

What HAS Been Happening…

The primary reason for less updates to live this week is we have a number of  larger projects that are taking up a lot of our focus and time.  In an effort to push the Volunteer Sign Up tool live, we found some other issues with the Events Calendar that need to be addressed first.  This conundrum regularly comes up when building product. An established module is working just fine until a new module that relies on the first module is being built.  Oh how fun it is when the logic and code start falling apart to get two things to work harmoniously together!!

So, before we kept pushing forward with the Volunteer Sign Up tool, I made the decision to pull back, pause the Volunteer Sign Up Tool and spend some necessary time working on the Event Calendar tool.  I am pleased to say that the updates to the Events Calendar are not as major as we thought, are moving ahead swimmingly and will not only allow better integration with other modules such as Volunteer Sign Up, but will also drastically improve the Event Calendar Functionality.

In addition to the working on updates to prepare for future releases, the team has also made significant progress in the following areas:

• SMS Text Messaging – Minor Bug Fixes
• Organization Profile – Update and Fixes to Claim Functionality
• Add/Edit Organization Profile – Minor Bug Fixes
• Site Builder – Minor Bug Fixes
• Backend Server – Minor Adjustments and fixes

To continue our shift to transparent and open development of the platform, we also want to share some of the immediate things are that we are working on releasing.

• Events Calendar – Upgrade to Code and UX
• Newsletter Tool – Continued Fixes and Updates
• Volunteer Sign Up – Paused briefly while Updates to Event Calendar are applied
• Updated Front End Redesign launch – A complete rethinking of our website and application interface (in progress)

A lack of visible updates to the live site aside, this week was extremely busy. We are incredibly excited about the updates to the Event Calendar and how this will improve the overall suite of tools, its ability to share and further centralize small organization data so it is usable.
