Plainfield East High School Athletic Booster Club – Supporting Bengal Athletics in Plainfield, Illinois

The Plainfield East High School Athletic Booster Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit volunteer organization dedicated to supporting the Bengal student-athletes across all sports at Plainfield East High School, part of the Plainfield Community Consolidated School District 202 in Plainfield, Illinois.

Since PEHS opened in 2008 and joined the Southwest Prairie Conference in the 2009–10 school year, the Booster Club has been actively raising funds to benefit athletic programs, student scholarships, equipment, and uniforms.

Membership and Community Benefits

Membership is open to parents, guardians, alumni, coaches, staff, and community supporters. The $30 annual “Bengal Booster” membership includes a vinyl car decal and “Bengal Bucks” credit ($10 towards concessions or spirit wear). Booster members who maintain two consecutive years of membership are eligible to support their senior student-athlete’s application for a scholarship. Each year, the club awards one $1,000 Scott McBride Scholarship and two $500 scholarships to deserving seniors.

• Concessions revenue that supports operations and offsets costs for athletic programs

• Spirit wear and merchandise sales to build school pride

• Community events and fundraisers, including golf outings, football movie nights, Orange-Green Night socials, and volunteer coordination for locker move-ins and school orientation

Organization and Governance

The Booster Club is run entirely by volunteer parent and guardian leaders, including roles such as President, Treasurer, Secretary, Membership Chair, Fundraising Chair, Spirit Wear Coordinator, Concessions Manager, and Communications Coordinator. The treasurer manages both a main account and a separate concessions account for financial transparency and ease of reconciliation. Booster Club leadership collaborates closely with the Plainfield East athletic administration, including the Athletic Director and Assistant Athletic Director.

Key Activities and Volunteer Opportunities

The Booster Club is active year-round with initiatives such as:

• Selling memberships, spirit wear, and recruiting volunteers during open house and exploration nights

• Operating concession stands at football games, basketball games, and tournaments with help from parents and student volunteers

• Running fundraising events like raffles, local restaurant discount partnerships, halftime field-goal contests, and seasonal sales such as flower baskets and holiday gift campaigns

• Coordinating volunteers for locker move-in support and community events

• Join as a booster member through the annual membership form available online and at school events. Membership directly supports athletic programs and includes member benefits.

• Volunteer at concession stands, merchandise sales, sporting events, and outreach nights to support operations.
