We are a very small school district in southeast Missouri with very big sports dreams! We support over 10 different teams in this small rural area. We are a retirement, farm, and struggling community and we understand how IMPORTANT sports are to our kids and their development in life. Doniphan Missouri is a beautiful little town on Current River that our kids love and support very much. Our sports program is providing structure, dedication and tolerance. Funding is a big part of our school and its sports needs. We provides Jerseys,Shoes, and all other needs but we are struggling to provide our school system with funding that allows these programs to survive. With the economy struggling also it has lessened our ability to raise money and receive donations from our town’s businesses. Also this year our school needed a new intercom system and the only money available for them to use was our booster club fund. This has set us back an extra 5 grand on top of our already low resources. I will be completely honest and say with great concern that we have started this year with less than $2500 for more than 10 different teams. This has never happened before which is why we are reaching out to you for help and assistance in keeping our children’s sports dreams alive. Any funding you can help us with would be greatly appreciated and might possibly be our only way of keeping these children in Sports. Doniphan High School has never had to look outside of its own community for help and resources for our children to be able to succeed and go farther than we could imagine. So we are here pleading with any possible help we can get from a great program. Our Seniors may have to go without decades long traditions and a century long commitment to them as one. Also, this month has been a trying time for our little community with 4 unexpected deaths that have left us all devastated and drained trying to support the families and each other as all smaller communities do. Our children have been through alot already this year and it makes sports involvement that much more important at this time as their trama can be taken out on their courts and fields while at the same time providing comradery and healing as a team.
