About

The California Cowboys Professional Rodeo Association (CCPRA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of rodeo.

Formed in 1966, our regional organization sanctions rodeos throughout California and Nevada. Always retaining a steady membership each year, the CCPRA is the leading rodeo organization in California. Members include cowboys, cowgirls, judges, clowns, bullfighters, photographers, secretaries, announcers, contractors, committee members, and fair managers. These members are from all walks of life, they are teachers, salesmen, bank executives, veterinarians, peace officers, students and ranchers. Many can only compete on the weekends, but all share the same passion for rodeo.

CCPRA contestants are competing for close to half a million dollars in prize money each year. The money comes from entry fees and added purses and points are awarded on a point per dollar system. At the end of the season, on Thanksgiving weekend at the Tehama District Fairgrounds, the top 13 contestants in each event compete for the championship title. The weekend concludes with an award presentation and celebration, and the crowning of the state queen.
